Brian Cook – President and CEO
Brian Cook, the 4th generation of the Cook family to work at Cook’s Pest Control, served Cook’s Pest Control Inc. in a variety of service, sales, and management roles including Customer Care Manager and Director of Business Development. He assumed his current role of CEO in 2017.
In the same year, Cook assumed leadership of the development and construction of the new Cook Museum of Natural Science. He is also the Museum’s President and Chairman of the Board.
Cook earned his undergraduate degree at Samford University and his MBA from the University of Alabama.
Joey Harris – Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer
Joey Harris is a 33-year veteran of Cook’s Pest Control. Harris has served the company in a variety of roles including Sales Director; Vice President, Sales and Service; and most recently Chief Operating Officer.
In addition, he has served as a Committee Chairman and a Board Member of the National Pest Management Association and multiple terms as President of the Alabama Pest Control Association. He was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Agriculture and Industries Board for the State of Alabama.
Harris is a Board Certified Entomologist, recognized by the Entomological Society of American since 1985. He is a graduate of the University of Memphis where he earned degrees in entomology and education.
Arthur Orr – Executive Vice President/Chief Administration Officer
Arthur Orr started at Cook’s Pest Control in 2001 as Vice President and General Counsel. He has also served as an Alabama State Senator for District 3 since his election in 2006. He attended Wake Forest University, followed by law school at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Upon graduation, he joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to a primitive area of Nepal.
In his new role as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Cook’s, Orr will assume oversight of all of the company’s administrative duties including the areas of Accounting, Human Resources, Property, Marketing and Advertising, as well as handling all legal matters.
Carl Monin – Senior Vice President
Carl Monin joined Cook’s in 1995 as our Customer Care Manager. Since then he has held several other positions before rising to Senior Vice President: HR/Purchasing Manager, Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Director, and Vice President – Human Resources.
Monin has a degree in Business Administration from Tennessee Tech University, and before joining Cook’s, he co-owned a pest control company.
Sam Alfano – Chief Financial Officer
Sam Alfano joined Cook’s Pest Control in February 2000 as Director of Finance and Accounting.
Alfano has a BS in Accounting from the University of Alabama (1977). A CPA, he started his career with Ernst and Ernst (now Ernst and Young), and has over 40 years of experience in the manufacturing, wholesale distribution, and service industries, as well as the public accounting profession. He has experience in accounting, financial management, management information systems, human resources, purchasing, and risk management.
Jerry Baker – Vice President of Sales
Jerry Baker started with Cook’s Pest Control in September 2005 as a Sales Inspector in our Atlanta SE office. He quickly achieved President’s Club status, was promoted to Sales Manager, District Manager, Georgia Regional Sales Manager, Director of Sales, and his current role as VP of Sales.
Baker is a graduate of DeVry University where he studied electronics. He has also served over 25 years in the Information Technology industry where he held various leadership, sales, and management roles.
Stephen Gates – Vice President Technical Services
Stephen Gates joined Cook’s Pest Control in 1998 as a Manager Trainee. He then was promoted to the Corporate Sentricon Supervisor before becoming the Pest Control Services Manager, then Director of Technical Services, and finally, Vice President of Technical Services.
Gates has a BS in Entomology/IPM from Auburn University, and became a Board Certified Entomologist in 2002.
Orv Perry – Vice President Regional Manager-TN
Orv Perry joined Cook’s Pest Control in 1992. He started as a Sales Inspector in the Florence District Office, then worked his way up through the ranks as Sales Manager, District Manager (Birmingham South, then Florence), Tennessee Regional Manager, and now Vice President Regional Manager of Tennessee.
Chuck Carney – Vice President Regional Manager-GA
Chuck Carney joined Cook’s Pest Control February 1, 1998 as a Pest Control Technician. He worked his way up to Sales Inspector, then became the District Manager of the Marietta office, before moving to the Atlanta SE District Office as DM there, as well. In 2002, he was promoted to Georgia Regional Manager, and in 2007, he became the Regional Vice President.
Before starting at Cook’s, Carney spent 20 years serving in the United States Army.
Ronny Murphy – Vice President Regional Manager-AL
Ronny Murphy started working for Cook’s in February of 1974 as a Manager Trainee. He worked in various supervisory positions for the company before being promoted to District Manager of the Cullman office in September of 1979. In 1999, he was promoted to Alabama Regional Manager, and later to Regional Vice President.
Murphy attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville for business. He has been married to Connie (Goree) Murphy for 50 years, and they have two children, Bradley Murphy and Sonya Daffron. He enjoys golf, boating, and time with his grandchildren.
